Inspiring You Days 15 & 16

Yesterday I woke up and wrote. I tweaked what I'd started on my first chapters and had to cringe at how bad the writing was. Thank the Lord for revisions!

This morning I woke up and made a layered dip for the food day we're having at work. It felt strange getting up and heading to the kitchen to make something edible, beyond coffee. Then, on to the story...

But I'm having issues with this WIP. I love the story, of course. It's just I haven't been able to get a good handle on it yet. I also reworked my GMC chart yesterday. I can feel a tug where the story is concerned. A tug to move forward but also a tug in the other direction. When I feel this way, I do tend to go back to the GMC Chart to see if my goals and motivations are strong enough and if they work with the conflict.

On a positive note, hop on over to the FAITH Blog, where Missy Tippens is talking about dreams. She's also giving away a $10 Amazon gift card. Leave a comment to put your name in the hat AND tell her about what your dream is.

My current word count is 4,615. Not much improvement, but I am plugging forward. We have 10 days left in our challenge. Some of you are really close to achieving your stated goal. I can't wait to relinquish prizes to those who have met the goal they stated when we started this challenge.

Okay, check in time, how are you doing?

I've accomplished nada. But I have high hopes for this weekend!

Yeah, I've been dealing with GMC a lot lately, too. I really, really want readers to feel for my characters and even had one of my critique partners read through my first chapter to make sure I'm off on the right foot.

I'm at 43,300 right now without much writing this week so far. I'm hoping to surpass 45 K today or tomorrow and get closer to 50 K. Yay for the weekend!

I'm at 18K right now. Hoping to get about another 5K done today. We'll see how that goes!

Great accountability, as usual, Christy. This is SO helpful for me!! :-)

I'm still at it. :) One scene a day.

I finished editing another scene last night. I am now on page 103 of 320 and realizing that I am adding more words than I probably should. My ms is at 66520 words and if I want to send it to Harlequin I can only go to 75 000. That means I can only add about 39 words per page. Hence after this major revision I may need to snip snip depending on who I want to send the ms to.

I am thinking about entering the golden heart and figure I should have it edited by Dec 2nd.

Good luck everyone! Hang in there!

Here's a quote I hope speaks to someone:

"Writing is rewriting. A writer must learn to deepen characters, trim writing, intensify scenes. To fall in love with a first draft to the point where one cannot change it is to greatly enhance the prospects of never publishing."

Well, I've been doing bits in the a.m. I too have hopes for Saturday. I'm almost at 60K. Which makes me very happy. Not quite my goal, but it's forward progress.

So inspired by everyone's work!! I'm just over 22K/50K for the challenge now. It was a very productive day for me.

I passed 50,000 words in my novel today, which felt great. I still have another 35K to go, but I'm just psyched to be making progress! :-)

Lots of progress!! :-)

I just passed 30K on the challenge. 4K yesterday, just over 5K today so far. Hoping for a bit more tonight. Just keeping on keeping on! :-)

How's everyone else doing?

Finalist!

I've always enjoyed reading historical novels. As a child I actually imagined living in the mid 1800s. My grandmother fed my imaginatio...
