Inspiring You Challenge: Day 1

It's time.

Time to light a fire under your butter bean.

It's time for another At Split Ends Accountability Race.

I need you. You need me. Together, we will inspire each other and keep each other accountable to reach our goals.  Earlier this year, you helped me finish my book. Rebecca finished hers and Lindi and Dianna worked on theirs right along with us...

Well, folks, it's that time again...

For this challenge, I'm inviting anyone -

Writer or Not - Come Forth and Declare Your Goal

Are you assisting a loved one and need support or prayer? Do you want to reorganize your closet? In the middle of renovation of that one room that you can't seem to finish? Are you trying to lose weight? Are you trying to make it to the gym daily? Are you trying to finish writing your book? Are you planning to start a new business?

Whatever, your need, let's declare it here on ASB

But wait! You're not done. Declaring the Goal is ONLY the first step!  Then you have to hold yourself accountable and come back to this Blog and give me your progress.

Here's how it works.

1)Declare your Goal.
2)Report back to the blog daily - whether you made an achievement or not. Everyone involved in the challenge will be reporting and you will get support from all of us working on our goal.

3) By October 31st - we'll see who has met their challenge.
4) Reward!!!

If you finished that room renovation, I'll send you a Home Depot Gift Card.
If you finish writing your book, I'll send you a Walmart gift card. And so on...

Basically, if you truly finish your stated goal, you will get a reward from me :)
(However, I cannot mail out of the country, so United States participants only, please)

Now mind you, the gift cards won't be anything fabulous. $5, $10 will be the max. But the fact is, I appreciate my friends and I want to help you reach your goals.

I'll go first... My challenge is to start a new book - working title, Sinking Sand. I'd like to have a rough draft completed by October 31st. My target word count for the book is 60,000 words, but I am not holding myself to that for this first challenge. That will come with rewrites. I simply want to have the beginning, middle and end down from all of the character's perspectives.

Are you up for a challenge?

Declare it and Let Us Begin to Inspire You!

Oh, Christy, how did you know that I needed this? I haven't been able to write since we came back from Indy. Very discouraging.

Here's my goal: I want to get my revisions completed as much as possible. At least mid-way through my book and apply the things I learned in my Sept. Pacing class and things I'll be learning in my current Deep POV class. I would like to get my Golden Heart entry off. From where I sit now, the GH entry is in jeopardy.

What it'll take: I figured out through last month's class that I need to deconstruct/reconstruct each scene, analyzing for pacing errors. I'm hoping this will make my manuscript come alive so to speak.

I may not make it back here every day because of work and kid's band and kid's football and our business, but I'll try to get back as often as I can. :)

I'm in. I need 1000k words a day! And I need to be revising along the way.
I really needed this challenge. Thanks for posting!
Let's do it!

Oh, and I love how we have the same blog. Well, background anyway. It's set up differently besides that, but I love it.

I needed this, Christy! Great to have another challenge.

I'm going to set a goal of 50K written in October. Before the 31st of October, I want to have written 50K of new text.

Here we go. :-)

Dianna & Lindi, good to see you again! Here we all go! :-)

Well, I signed up for NovelTrack. My goal there is 12K words for the month. May as well have you kick my butt on it too. Count me in.

Awesome--I love setting goals and reaching them so I am soooo doing this!

I am plotting my new WIP this week and want to start writing by this weekend. So...since my novels tend to be over 90K I'm not going to say I'll finish it but I DO want to have at least half done. I'm going to stretch myself and say 45K words by the end of the month.

P.S. I want to follow your blog but the follower option isn't available right now. This happened on my blog, too. I just went to Design, took out the Followers box and then put it right back in. Seemed to fix the problem :) Thanks!

Hello, everyone!!!

Woo-Hoo, your goals have been stated, let's begin!

Cindy - try again next time you're over here. It seemed to be working now, but... let me know and I'll try to fix it!

That novel I finished last time? It's now with Harlequin. Of course, no guarantee that they'll take it, but at least I got it finished and off to them.

Looking forward to another big challenge. 50K for me will be big, but I think I can do it. about 3 and a half today already. WOot!
