The Time Is Now Challenge....

A.K.A. .... TTIN Challenge

So let us begin....

Fellow blogger, writers, readers, family and friends, I've been in a quandary for several months now. Since our last challenge ended, I've barely written. I've compiled character charts and written synopses. I've thought of story lines and tried to develop them, but...

Nothing happens. Instead of waking up with ideas for my plots, I wake up thinking about issues that surround me... things I can't change.  So, I need help to rev up my writing. I'll be working on giving my issues to God and studying His word more. I'm hoping with all of this working together, and tag on this new accoutability challenge, that I will make some headway in my new stories.

And, I really hope this challenge won't be a flop for me or for you!  But, hey, none of that talk. We're thinking positive here!

Here's the deal. There really aren't any set rules. To play, you just come to the blog regularly and give me an update on your writing progress. We'll go ahead and state our goals this week and start anew on Monday, January 17th.

We will have multiple deadlines. The First deadline is March 1. This is in place because ACFW's Genesis Contest deadline for entries is March 4. If you are actively participating in my accountability challenge, then this will give you a fair deadline and time to have the entry submitted. (Although the coordinator recommends you email the entry in the middle of February in case it gets lost in cyberspace. Very good point and do keep in mind. Bad things happen to good people, you know!)

Now, for anyone not writing Christian Fiction, but wanting to participate, I would love to have you. If you are working to submit to a contest, agent or editor, or just simply wanting to finish that book, you have a home here. Genesis Contest is simply my goal.

After March 1, we will reevaluate our goals and a new deadline will be set up. I plan to have this challenge on going as when I am not blogging about my progress, or lack there of, I find I seep into a void of non-writing and that starts to irritate me. The irritation turns into the form of me being ill and that trickles to my family who have to put up with my bad mood. Not fun for anyone...

I will state my goal in the comments section and whoever is interested can enter a comment. Today and the rest of the week, we're just setting goals. Monday, the challenge begins. If you get a head start writing this weekend, that's awesome! Come back and share, okay!

Here's my goal. I've got 2 good stories I want to prepare to enter in the Genesis Contest. One is a historical romance, the other is contemporary, but could be considered romantic suspsense or thriller. My goal is to prepare these 2 manuscripts to submit to Genesis.

You can do it, Twinkie.

I already sent my entry off, but only because I entered another contest in December, so it was ready to go.

I've been doing Novel Track for January with a goal of 10K words for the month. So far I'm over 7K so, theoretically, that should put me on track to exceed my goal by at least have. I just have to keep going and not get lazy simply because I'm almost there. I'm heading off for a writer's retreat this weekend, so hopefully I'll come back with a few more thousand under my belt. Sure wish you could come.

Wow, you guys make me feel like a lazy slug. I'm still struggling to get back into the swing of things. I've been waking running fevers and my dr. cancelled on me due to inclement weather (ice and snow...GA can't handle it!). I had hoped to be feeling better by today. So, I need to suck it up and press forward like I normally do without whining. (To bad you guys can't reach through cyber-space to slap me into gear.)

I signed up for Kelly Stone's writing challenge on facebook, but haven't done well in meeting my goal. So, I restate that goal here and hope it'll help. So here goes...

I would like to put in 30 minutes a day of some type of writing work. Whether it's outlining, drafting, or researching, I just want to accomplish something.

To be honest, I don't care about contest entries right now, though having one ready for the Maggies would be nice, but I do have 3 full requests I need to meet.

BTW-Love the new look, Christy!

I meant to tell you that too, Christy. Love the new look. Let me know if you decide to ditch it:-)

Thanks Ladies... the new blog look is because I've been procrastinating again. However, I love nature and it reminds me of our North Georgia Mountains. It'll do for now.

Dianna, don't feel your alone in the sluggish world... I've been working a lot on Work stuff, but not so much on writing. Writing wise, I've been very sluggish. I'm sick of it!

Good for you, Mindy! Let us know how your progress goes... Do you have a target word count?

This is perfect timing for me! Count me in. I'll be back later to figure up my actual goal. :)

Christy,
I'm in! I'm going to be writing a nonfiction. It's my story but not a memoir. I'm also starting an internship with Tiffany Colter on Monday, plus I have 3 books I have to read and write reviews - got my schedule really messed up over that. Anyway, because of those extra things, I'm going to set a time goal rather than a word count goal - at least for now. So, my goal is to write 7 hour a week - in any combination of writing time that will get me the 7 hours.

Looking forward to this challenge!!

Hi All,

Another writing challenge, thanks for hosting this Christy!

I'm in the research phase for a new ms right now, hopefully I can plow through it this weekend and then come up with my goal on Monday.

Have a great weekend!

Okay, I'm back. :)

I'm going to shoot for 1600k words a day, 5 days a week. But I already know my Bible study/grocery store day will make it difficult. So I plan is to shoot for 2k early in the week to make the week's total come out okay. Does that make a bit of sense?? LOL

Thanks, Christy!

Yay, Missy! Welcome aboard! 1600 is definitely doable!

Yay, Eva, what period are you researching? I definitely need some research pointers...

Yay, Edwina, You can do it!

The trick is to post the good and the bad days. You will see me do the same. Hopefully, I can post some progress each day whether I wrote or not. We can do it!

Hi,
I posted a really long post on Friday but guess blogger ate it.
My goal for next week is to finish the scene I've been working on for over 2 weeks and revise another chapter. Thanks Christy for the TTIN challenge. It's always so inspiring.

Yay, Lindi!!! Glad you're back. And I draw my inspiration from all of you. Reading how you are doing helps me move forward as well.

Finalist!

I've always enjoyed reading historical novels. As a child I actually imagined living in the mid 1800s. My grandmother fed my imaginatio...
