Keep Me Accountable - Magic Writing

photo from http://www.kids-pages.com/folders/colpages/Fairy-Tales/page8.htm
Hey, all!  It's Day 3 for Nanowrimo and I'm going strong - as strong as can be squeaking by with about two hours writing time per day. My total word count is 3,550!  I already had Chapter 1 written, however when nano started, I started at Chapter 2. It's going great.

It is hard to turn off the internal editor. I'll admit, there's a lot of "telling" going on. I'm forcing myself to "tell" the scene if I'm not seeing it clearly in my head. I just need to get it down to get on to the next scene and multiply those words.

However, in turning off that internal editor, I'm finding the process has organic qualities. Even though, I used plotter methods and am following my scene cards, what is produced in those scenes, is like magic. When I began Chapter 2, I needed my hero and heroine to meet. It ended up another character I hadn't planned on appearing this early, made her debut and added a lot of fun to the scene.

And, more fun for me as the writer.

I'll look forward to hearing from you and your progress! Any magic happening?

Way to go, Christy!! I'm thrilled you are getting so much done. And don't you love it when the scenes just happen? It sounds like you are off to a great start.

I logged less than 100 words this morning. But i"m still trucking. Those words finished a scene.

Can't wait to hear how the rest of the week goes for you!

Awesome progress, Christy!

Lindi, every word counts. Sometimes the words we labor over the most are the words that create the best scenes!

Me? I've been caught up with kids' activities and trying to stay sane. But, I have high hopes for this weekend.

Dianna--I'm with you on the weekend thing. We'll have to check in tomorrow.

Whoo! I hit 30K this morning. Now I only have to write 5K tomorrow. Ha!!

Yay Christy! Sounds like you're working hard!

Dianna & Lindi I hope you both exceed your expected word counts this weekend!

I'm still getting my 1k per day. Today I wrote it on a plane to British Columbia! Not sure if I'll be able to keep up my word count this week while I'm here, but I am so going to try! If not, every word counts and I'll have a lot to make up for when I get home :)

Yay, Eva. Sounds like both our schedules are going to be different this week. I'll be with my grandchildren Tuesday night through Friday morning. I'm pretty sure I'll be getting no morning writing done, but maybe I can try to put my night writing in practice. See how well my brain works at night.
Congrats on the progress!

Everyone is doing great!

I didn't get any writing done this morning and today my husband and I are headed to Athens GA for the UGA Homecoming game. This will be my first time at a college football game, so I'm looking forward to it. I'm taking my scene cards and what I've written so far, hoping to edit or create during the drive.

I'll do a new post this weekend. Hope you all have a productive and safe weekend!

A little magic. Definitely not Nano-paced magic. lol I think it's FINE to tell in your rough draft. You'll be able to go back and fix everything later.
My pace is slow because of my pesky internal editor too. LOL Have fun Nanoing!

Hi Jessica!
Yeah, I would like to be working faster, but it is so hard to stop the editing process. I have to keep telling myself - yes, this is bad, but I will make it better after I get 50k written!

My rough draft is virtually dialogue. I have to layer then layer, then layer.
Crazy!

Finalist!

I've always enjoyed reading historical novels. As a child I actually imagined living in the mid 1800s. My grandmother fed my imaginatio...
